Tee up Dean Town by Vulfpeck.

I saw Vulfpeck last week and the fun they have on stage is unparalleled.  You can feel it in the crowd, an energy exchange.  Lots of instruments, everyone riffing off each other, super well balanced, flares of edge.  Fun.  It was top tier.

Vulfpeck wore old school Beach Boys garb, simple white pants with striped shirts, straight out of 1964.  A nod to the essence and idyllic California vibe.  I’m all about it.

Check out The Beach Boys live 1964 concert on YouTube.  The ultimate vibe.  Vulfpeck crushed that vibe.

I'm sitting on top of Doe Mountain in Sedona.  My view is sick.  I'm in a dancing mood.

Today I played a successful round of disc golf in Cottonwood, shooting par, and getting a handful of both birdies and bogies. I almost threw in the towel when I lost my favorite disc, but determination led me back to her.  That would have been low key devastating.  Of all my discs, that's really the only one I really don't want to lose.  Even worse, it wasn't even because I lost it.  I just forgot to pick it up.  I was on the verge of failure, but preserved.   Praise Jah.

Update: I lost that fucking disc.  She wanted to split ties.  Sad.  Discs are like humans.  Some are awesome, some suck, often it's a luck of the draw.  Some live longer, some shorter, all die eventually.   RIP.

I went off-roading through Western Sedona today, looking for a cool campsite.  Off roading is a mixed bag.  On one hand its super sick and its why you buy the 4x4.  On the other hand, when it gets gnarly (and that can happen real quick), you're just praying that you don't break down or get a flat.  Just completing the sesh is a victory in itself.

The big win of today was the pool.

A Sheep in Wolfs Clothing

One of life's great joys is sneaking into pools.  Big time bonus if there's a hot tub.  It's been a constant throughout my life.

In college I used to frequently sneak into the La Paloma pool.  It's a 5 star resort in the foothills of Tucson.  You get to play rich person for the day, and more bonus points if you sneak in booze.  Then you're really beating the system.  A pro move.  Tucson's heat really developed my liking for pools. I crush the pool vibe.

My ability to sneak into pools only gets easier with age.  It's funny, the older you get, the more "respectable" people perceive you.  I suppose there's some truth in that the % of the sneaky population goes down with age -- and that just gives me leverage to push my sneaking game further and further.

It also helps when you have no fear of confrontation or getting kicked out.

No sweat.

All good.

The pool I snuck into today was a motel.  I was really just looking for a chlorine shower after a hot day of disc golf.  It really hit the spot, and they had a hot tub, and an ice machine.  Win win win.

But now I'm hot and sweaty again and need to run it back.  And lucky me, there's a 5 star resort within 6 minutes.  And you can connect the dots from there.

Update:

The resort had a security gate with an attendant.  I used the classic line:

"I'm just dropping something off for my mom, and coming right out"

"You know where you're going?"

"Yup" (indeed, I did know where I was going via google map satellite).

The resort was called Enchantment, and there was a jazz saxophonist jamming at the restaurant which was next to the pool.  I got myself a pitcher of water.  It was tucked away in this valley, with huge Sedona rocks surrounding the pool and a killer hot tub.  I had a nice long hot soak in the tub.  Huge win.
